caught out lying
Those words suggest that it was deliberate, ie, full knowledge that what was being sworn was false....

The person making that affidavit needs to relaise that affidavits are what the court relies on to help make decisions, in the family court & local court involving family violence applications, those decisions can have major & long term ramifications ..... When 'caught' deliberately lying, that person will lose all credibility in the process, be deemed an unreliable applicant/respondent, & will most likely put at great jeopardy their case ..... In the family court, potentially a costs order against them for the other parties legal fees as well, & if the judge considers it serious enough Sh/e can make a recommendation to the attorney general for prosecution...

Basically. Very serious stuff
