    If you are wanting to protect the guy I wouldn't recommend it.

    Authorities have access to the birth certificates. Once someone finds themselves in the legal system for something like this it can be hard getting out again without significant cost and penalty.

    I can understand some cases where a guy can have the mental age of a 15/16 yr old but be 20, however the law is willfully blind to these circumstances.

    The age of consent in Australia is generally 16. Therefore it is a crime for anyone to have sex with someone under 16 years of age. Persons who have sex with children under the age of 17 commit rape and can be charged, jailed and placed on the sex offender register.
