Hello!

I took my car to a car restoration company, the mechanic said that it would cost me around $50K and that he will charge as he goes. for 6 months I try to see the car but the mechanic told me that he would lose concentration. He also told me that work is going slowly due to a number of personal issues.

After 6 months i have paid him $48K and I went to the shop to see the car, it was unpainted and still had the engine out. I was angry and asked for the car back, the mechanic said I owed him another $20K, so I left.

What can I do? Can he be criminally charged?

Thanks in advance.

Criminally charged?
Going by what you've said so far, no.

This sounds less like crime, and more like a consumer complaint.
In which case, you may care to start here.
