In NSW, is referral from law society of NSW letter is a MUST prior in making appointment with any lawyer?

I have a list of lawyers which speaks my parents' language however i don't have any referral letter from law society of NSW. I thought its probably better to have lawyers that speak their language as they might feel more comfortable and from costing perspective, it may be cheaper too as there's no need to hire translator.

No, a referral is not necessary.

The Law Society provides their "Find A Lawyer" service
as a convenience to the public,
who may not know how to find a lawyer,
or how to find a lawyer that knows about their problem.
But you can choose any lawyer you like.

I know a very good lawyer who speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hainanese,
and I'd be happy to direct you.

hi @Tim W thank you.

yes, if you can direct me to the lawyer, it'll be greatly appreciated. In saying that, will he/she come to Sydney West area?
