I have 2 separate dads to both my little kids, boy 2 and daughter 5 both have never seen their dads no contact since pregnant. we are going on a family holiday overseas passport people say highly unlikely get a passport unless they can find the other parent for concent and they will do checks to try n find them for the concent which is ok dispite placing us at risk. its court ordered for both to pay child support as neither refused and ignored court orders and didn't attend. passport lady said I can go to court to obtain a court order to take them o/s for our holiday . reading what is involved id have to go to mediation with them which wouldn't happen and again it places us at risk and I do not know were they r to start with its been omg yrs n yrs since any contact at all and I don't know ther families etc so what does one do to do her best to get a passport ? can legal aid help with this process or am I on my own trying to locate them to do all this we r in new south wales

Contact Legal Aid, they can give you advise. You may need to go to court and explain your situation, exactly how you have in your post. Such as, you don’t know where they are, you have had no contact for yrs and yrs.

You could even file without representation, if you are eligible for Legal Aid I would use them.

I'd be trying to find them. Look on facebook etc... sure you could apply to court but that pile of crazy is gonna take time and sure you could self represent.... But it is gonna take a year or more. I understand you've expressed some concern about contacting the dads. But it is the easiest way to go... Maybe, just maybe it could be a positive and they might want to know their kids..

Plan B - Darwin. Nice place to visit. Not over seas but a better option than dealing with family law courts.

DFAT have a form you can fill out if your situation qualifies as a 'special circumstance'... One of those is the ' inability to contact a non-consenting parent for a reasonable period of time'...

The link below from DFAT includes a link to the form... IF you get knocked back, then your only remaining avenue without consent is to file an application with the courts... I'm assuming that two dads means two forms

I don't mean to be the one to give you a lecture but you probably shouldn't have waited until you already had an overseas holiday planned before trying to organise the passports... Hopefully you will have enough time to sort it out. It is probably going to be a drawn out process.
