My lawyer left the firm handling my case and offered to work pro bono. She was meant to submit a deed of settlement to my previous employer but is not returning calls at her new job. We were on the cusp of settlement. It has now been 10 weeks without communication. I am uncertain how to proceed.

As you are not aware of her circumstances (eg she could have a serious medical condition) start with a gentle reminder that she has a responsibility for your matter. If no response in 2 days call her employer to ask what is happening.

I would expect the original to continue to run your matter.
What do they say?

I do not see where the lawyer's new employer has any obligation
to you, and certainly not on a fee-waived basis.

Agreed, but the employer may know the whereabouts and availability of the lawyer.

Thank you for your replies. My partner has a more flexible workday than mine and fronted up to the new place of employ of my lawyer yesterday. The lawyer was apologetic for not responding to the emails and phone calls and stated she would follow up with my employer's lawyer to see whether they have accepted the deed of settlement.
