Does anyone know if proposed changes to the federal courts have already in some way been applied or implemented?

For instance, if a matter has been before the court for 2 years and is set down for trial this week (before the proposed changes are to be implemented), is it likely a different judge will be assigned the matter for trial?

TIA

It is possible, but unlikely, the changes due to take effect on 1 Jan 2019 will affect your case. The new FCFC Div 2 will have the same judges as the current FCC.

Not sure if this is relevant, but i'm from QLD and my partner has been in court coming up to a year now. The first two dates were with one judge and then our last court date in June was with a new one (sadly). The ICL said it was due to the FCC changes.

Thanks Jade - that’s a shame for your partner. Thankfully trial kicked off for me yesterday and we have the same judge.
