I found out my ex boyfriend had been cheating on me with many others via another friend. Can I send him a lawyer's letter for hurting me or for using me or anything? I really want to really take some revenge on him or just scare him.... Thanks.

Hi Liedto,

I can't think of any legal claim for being cheated on, by itself, no matter how distressing it is. I'll be interested to see what others think though. Also, you may find a lawyer who can think of some legal basis for a letter of demand. Good luck, Paul.

As a matter of the Professional Conduct Rules that apply to them,
and of ethics more generally, lawyers aren't really allowed to write letters like that
purely for the purpose of revenge or intimidation.

For other aspects - such as return of property,
custody of children, and financial matters
relating to the end of a relationship,
we can often use firm language.

But, just to dust somebody up?
Not so much.

What if an ex girlfriend cheated and gave me HSV-2. I have before and after tests to verify.
Do I have any legal rights?
I'd really like to get all the money back from her that I wasted spending on her over the course of the relationship.
