My mum has recently passed away and I am going to try and do probate myself. Due to the high fees.
I have a copy of her will. I assume I need the original will. Does the legal firm charge a fee to give me the original will?

They shouldn’t, so long as you can prove you are the rightful executor. You will need the original will for probate, and you must be very careful in the manner in which you handle it. Simple probate is not terribly difficult, but it is exacting and the costs of getting it wrong can be big.

Thanks Rob. I have a copy of the will which lists my daughter and I as executors. Her will is uncomplicated so I do believe it should be a simple probate. I will be reading as much as I can to try and get the process correct.
