I was hoping to get some opinions please.
Yesterday I was involved in a prang in a shopping centre car park. I came around a corner where a car was parked illegally in what would be the right hand lane. Another car was coming from the opposite direction and swung wide into my lane to avoid the parked car. This then blocked my way through. The driver of the other car refused to back up and proceeded to sit there in my way. I attempted to drive around his car slowly at which point he also drove forward further onto my side of the lane. As I passed, the front right of my car slightly scraped along the rear right side of his.
There was no damage at all to my car however the other driver claims damage to his.
So my question is two fold.
Firstly, what information am I legally required to give him? He was quite forceful in demanding my drivers license details which I refused. He was on the phone to his mother who told him to call the police. I said to go ahead as I was willing to give him my first name, phone number and rego details which I believe is enough.
Secondly, I was hoping to get clarification as to who was at fault. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I have had my license for 15 years with no disqualifications. The other driver was a P plater who advised he was 18 years old.
Any opinions or advice is welcomed.
Please note that I didn't get a look at the damage on his car as I was too shaken up to get out of mine.
