Hi,

I received unsolicited goods from LuxStyle (Finland ) after filling a form in on a Facebook ad. I never ordered any product. I've since found out that this company does this all the time to try and force people to pay for stuff they didn't order. I found out from consumer protection that I wasn't obliged to respond at all to their letters demanding payment and subsequent threat of litigation.

I have now received further threats from a collection company called IO International (Hong Kong) telling me to pay up or they will take me to court. Are they legit and do I need to worry?

ACCC advised what to do and I followed the advice but it hasn't deterred these extortionists. Help!

Any one else had the same? There's so much talk about LuxStyle's shonky practices online, I can't be the only one! :(

I am going through the same problem and because there is no number to call them nor do they give us an address to return the goods we can't settle the problem. Did you find out how we can stop them from the harassment because it's really doing my head in?

Are you in Australia?

I'm waiting to see what the so called collection agency next move is going to be.. I'm wondering if they are even legit. Their responses to my emails were suss to say the least. I asked them for their ABN.. They ignored that and just trotted out the same, robotic reply... All at 11am on a Sunday. Not really what you expect from a legitimate Aus. Business.

I'm calling their bluff. You do not have to have any contact with LuxStyle if they sent you unsolicited goods. Contact consumer affairs to confirm that but tha'ts what I was told. I have never acknowledged any of their demands. Apparently the onus is on them to pay for their unsolicited package to be returned and if that isn't done in 3 months its game over. Will keep you posted.

Hey

I am from Germany (sorry for my broken english). We habe the same problem here. In February Stylux send me products I didn't want. I was silly enough to give my name, because I want to know the price...

Now (December!) I became a letter from IO international organisation. I thought they have given up after their three bills, because they didn't send me bills for that long time... but today I became the late Christmas present.

In the letter they didn't give an German address, nor the register number, which every German debt collection company must give in letters. That's why I am sure, they aren't a real company. I will send them a mail, that I won't pay and they should give me their address and register number in the next 14 days, because I need it for the lawyer I am going to take if they send me any letter or remainders again.

I would love to hear what happened with your problem.
