In an instance where there has been a car fire, for example, due to a suicide attempt and the owner of a building is claiming that after a police investigation by the federal police, it has been found it to be a suicide attempt by someone who is mentally ill, and for them to then publicly say on many occasions on the record that it was a car bombing and linking it to people, for example "LGBT activists", despite police investigations finding the contrary?

Is anyone named, or can be identified by anything the owner is saying?

Hi,

To establish defamation, a person must prove communication or publication of a defamatory matter to a third party. The communication or publication must identify the plaintiff.

If you think damage has been done to your reputation by defamatory comments, then you should seek legal advice quickly because a defamation action must be commenced within one year from the date of publication.
