Hi

Just looking through my recent payslips and discovered that after working for my boss for approx 1.5 years. He has reduced my hourly pay rate, without telling me at the beginning of Jan, which coincidently lines up with him deciding to close the hairdressing salon.

Is he allowed to reduce my rate for no reason without notifying me under Employment Law?

I'm meeting with him regarding my contract details at 1.30 and want to be armed with as much knowledge as possible!

Thanks.

It really depends what your contract of employment says. If it says that the employer can conduct regular performance reviews then they probably can change your rate of pay provided they don't go under the award wage or any enterprise agreement that applies.

I suspect not.
Were you on wages, or were you in one of those chair-rental scams?
With a bit of luck, @Serge Gorval will have some insight.
