I've had some issues at my university and I wrote emails of concerns and complaint letters about facts and how they made me feel. I also told them that I had discussed these issues with my classmates.

I'm thinking of taking legal action against the school but would they be able to say that I have defamed them using my emails and letters?

Thanks for any assistance on defamation!

What are the 'issues' you have with the uni?

They have complaint handling policies. Make sure you have them and read them. Make sure they are being followed. Unless it is serious, like criminal serious, forget it. You can't afford a solicitor and the uni has lots of money. If you lose then, you could have to pay their legal fees too...

VIC - Severe Emotional Distress Caused by Staff at University - Claim Compensation? | LawAnswers.com.au

Hi sammy01, my 'issues' are in the above post, including discrimination, false allegations, breach of privacy, breaking contracts and bullying, which in my opinion are quite serious because I'm been sick for the past 2 years from this. I have evidence from the psychologist of the distress they have caused me.

I've actually already submitted complaints and staff mentioned won't follow the guidance from their superiors. The emails were arguments about how they were behaving (which are all true but they have pretended that it didn't happen). I did get very emotional in some of them. As a matter of fact, the staff who seemed mainly responsible for this has disappeared from the campus since the complaint was submitted.

Any help would be much appreciated!
